Today, the Senior Team hosted a We the Change Poetry Slam open to all Seniors! We the Change students studied works of poetry all week, learning how words can impact and drive change by sharing human experience. Fourteen performers shared their poetry today, most doing such a thing for the first time ever. We didn't spend weeks preparing for this — it was write it and do it — and most of the students were nervous to try this kind of performance, but in the end they shared the beautiful work from this week in a meaningful forum and supported each other immensely.

Special thanks to Ms. Amling, Sarah Katz and Melissa Tortorta for judging and supporting this event! Special thanks to the entire Senior Team for help planning and running the event!

The winners were:

Dejhanay Williams - First Place

Davianny Medina - Second Place

Mike Reid - Third Place

Anastacia Flores - Honorable Mention
